Implementation Plan for Public Health Institute’s Center for Public Health and Climate Change:

Judy Berger conducts research and analysis and works with staff to prepare a William and Flora Hewlett Foundation-funded Implementation Plan for this new Center working to link the worlds of public health professionals with educational and advocacy work around climate change management.

Toolkit for the David Lawrence Community Services Award

After four years of program consulting on this Award, Judy Berger develops a comprehensive history and guide for managing Kaiser Permanente’s David Lawrence Community Services Program, preparing staff to fully manage the program in-house and making recommendations for further growth and evolution of the program.

Winter/Spring '09

Business Plan for the "Operation Access Institute."

Judy Berger & Associates is engaged by Operation Access, a successful Bay Area nonprofit which leverages medical volunteerism to increase access to surgical and specialty care among the low-income uninsured. Judy Berger and Associate Cynthia Ulman work in the first and second quarters of 2009 to develop a comprehensive business plan for the development of an Operation Access Institute that would introduce and advance medical volunteerism efforts in other communities outside the Bay Area.

2009 David Lawrence Community Service Award

Judy Berger enters a third year of providing comprehensive program planning, due diligence and nomination analysis for Kaiser Permanente's prestigious national employee award which recognizes outstanding community service among employee individuals and groups.

Workshops

Judy Berger teams with organizational consultant Cynthia Ulman to lead a highly-rated half-day workshop in late January on The Nonprofit Dashboard: The Why and How of Developing a Performance Measurement Tool at the San Francisco Foundation Center. Judy and Cynthia piloted this workshop in October 2008 at the Marin Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership and plan to offer it again in Fall of '09.

2007 David Lawrence Community Services Award

Judy Berger & Associates is involved in project management of Kaiser Permanente's national David Lawrence Community Service Awards (DLCSA). This includes review and due diligence on award applications, recommendations to the DLCSA Selection Committee on finalists, preparing profiles of award winners, planning the awards event, and recommendations on further evolution and improvement of the award process into the future.

Center for Global Service

Judy Berger & Associates is engaged as a development consultant by Omni Med to prepare a Phase One grant proposal, focusing on the health sector, for a major new initiative to build connection and capacity among international volunteers. The purpose of the Center for Global Service (CGS) is to move global volunteerism from today's highly fragmented and disconnected model into an integrated knowledge network which will transform and optimize the worldwide impact of international service.
